Pitt center Artie Rowell lost for the season
Redshirt junior center Artie Rowell was injured last Friday when the Panthers defeated the Boston College Eagles. His injury appeared to be a ‘non-contact’ injury which often leads to abysmal results. Rowell’s worst fears came to fruition on Sunday when Pitt officially announced that he tore the ACL in his left knee.
“I know I speak for our entire team in saying we are very disappointed for Artie,” stated Pitt head football coach Paul Chryst. Â Â “I’m certain he will attack his rehabilitation with everything he has to get himself ready for next season.”
Rowell was replaced in the lineup by redshirt sophomore Gabe Roberts (6-foot-5 inches, 305 pounds). If Roberts permanently enters the starting lineup, he will be backed by massive redshirt freshman Alex Officer (6-foot-4 inches, 335 pounds).
Rowell has started the last 15 consecutive games at center for the Panthers.
