Pitt vs. Central Arkansas Full Analysis

Another game another big time blowout win. This time it was Central Arkansas who found themselves being dominated. When the dust settled the Panthers had their first 100-point game since 2007 with final score being 100-47.

Recap-

Pitt jumped out early once again starting the game up 15-4. From there the first half was never close. Jamel Artis regularly had his way with the defense of Central Arkansas. The defense was on pace with the offense throughout the half as the halftime scored saw Pitt up 50-23.

The second half was more of the same with the Panthers dominating and Central Arkansas just trying their best to cut the lead. However, the lead only expanded from the already big 27-point lead. At the end of the day Pitt finished winning by a whooping 53 points. On a side note the Panthers were able to secure their first 100-point game since 2007 when they defeated Houston Baptist 103-62.

Star players from the game were Jamel Artis and Damon Wilson Jr. For the game they scored 17 and 20 points respectively. Michael Young once again had solid production pouring in eight points and eight rebounds. And Finally James Robinson continued his excellent play as he had nine points, five assists, and four rebounds.

Takeaways-

It is tough to read too much into a game like this. At the end of the day Central Arkansas is nowhere near the same level as a program like Pitt and it showed on Sunday. The Panthers dominated every faze of the game. The offense flowed while the defense shut down the Bears from doing anything. Once again the three point shooting led the way as they went 9-19 from deep. The only noticeable negative from the game for Pitt was free throw shooting. They went 17-25 at the line, which is 68% and down from their season average. However, it was a great sight to see freshman Damon Wilson gaining confidence. If he can continue to grow as a player it will only help this Pitt team moving forward.
