Pitt Has Made Contact with Iowa OL

Pitt Head Coach Pat Narduzzi and company have not even finished with the class of 2015 and they are already branching out to make connections with recruits in the 2016 class. Among those is a big time mauler of an Offensive Lineman from Iowa, Caleb Bright (6’4” 270 lbs.). The Urbandale High School recruit has recently been contacted by Coach Josh Conklin and Dreambackfield.com has the details.
“Coach Conklin started following me on Twitter and then we started a relationship by talking on the phone by week.” Coach Thomas Sims and Coach Rob Harley have recently started following Bright but he has been trying to reach out to Offensive Line Coach John Peterson.
Bright, who projects as either a center or guard, says that his run blocking is his strength. One of his strengths actually is his strength. Of his best lifts, he now has a 335 lb. bench press, a 430 lb. squat along with a 285 lb. clean.
He had many positive things to say about Pitt. “The academics are second to none. The quality of education at Pitt would prepare me for a successful future beyond football.”
In the social media day and age we live in, a team’s fan base on social media is important. Bright experienced Pitt Twitter for himself since first being contacted by Pitt. He said, “The amount of love and support from Pitt fans this past week has been truly amazing. It’s crazy the love they show. I can feel the family atmosphere from the fan base already.”
Speaking of family, Bright’s father is a native of Pennsylvania and that has appealed to Caleb, whose dream is to play for a Pennsylvania school. Family is so important that Caleb wants to major in Criminal Justice and become a state trooper and follow in his father’s footsteps.
Aside from Pitt, schools interested in Bright include: Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Minnesota, Penn State and Western Michigan. “A few MAC schools are close to offering.”
Bright admits that he saw the subtweets from the Pitt and Penn State Offensive Line coaches on Twitter a few days ago and enjoyed the humor of the in-state rivalry.
Coach Conklin wants Bright to visit in the springtime and attend a spring practice, which Bright is excited for.
One thing that we can guarantee from Bright in his recruiting process is loyalty. He said, “I will NOT do a verbal commit unless I am 110% sure. My word is my honor. Once I commit, no decommitting for me.”
