Lamar Patterson, Pitt’s most consistent and prolific scorer all season, led the Panthers with 30 points in a 73-56 thrashing of Cal Poly on the hardwood Saturday afternoon at the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

Patterson shot 11-15 from the field and had the highest scoring day for a Pitt player since Sam Young’s 32 points against Oklahoma State on March 22, 2009.

He was also 4-7 from behind the arc and a perfect 4-4 from the line. In fact, as a team, Pitt shot a perfect 12-12 from the charity stripe.

Also worth noting was Durand Johnson’s 12 points off the bench and Cam Wright’s 8 points including 2 assists and 4 steals. Pitt grabbed a total of 36 rebounds in the game, something they failed to do in the Cincinnati game.

Chris Eversly led the Cal Poly Mustangs with 16 points on 6-16 shooting in a losing effort.

Pitt now gets to enjoy another 9 day break to take time off for the holidays. They will resume action on New Years Eve (12/31) at home against Albany; 1pm tipoff.

ACC Conference play begins right after that on Saturday, January 4th at 12pm Noon at NC State.
