Donald Takes Home Outland, Bednarik Awards

4 for 4 is a baseball reference. But on this night, it was referring to Pitt’s senior DT Aaron Donald dominance on the post-season award circuit.
Tonight, Donald was named the 2013 Chuck Bednarik Award winner, which goes to the nation’s defensive player of the year. Soonafter, Donald won the Outland Trophy which goes to the nation’s best interior lineman. Mark May is the only other Pitt player to win the Outland dating back to 1980.
These two awards come on the heels of Donald winning the 2013 Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the 2013 Lombardi Award during the past few days.
From there, Donald then became Pitt’s 14th Consensus All-American.
Despite the accolades, he said he was ready to head back to Pittsburgh and start preparing for Bowling Green two weeks from now on Thursday night (12/26) in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.
Its safe to say that one day #97 will be retired by Pitt and never worn again.
