Catching Up With Central’s David Adams

If there’s a better collection of Division-1 talent than the 2015 Pittsburgh Central Catholic team, I’d like to see it.

Players such as Damar Hamlin, Rashad Wheeler, C.J Thorpe, Bricen Garner and linebacker David Adams will all be major D-1 recruits. They’ll go into the season as heavy favorites in Quad-A and Adams is ok with that, “The 2015 Central Catholic Vikings are a special group! We are developing something that is going to be hard to beat. We just have to keep working hard and everything will fall into place.”

Theres’s no doubt Adams will keep working hard because that’s the type of player he is.  It probably has something to do with his football idol future Hall of Fame LB Ray Lewis. “I model my play off of Ray Lewis,” said Adams. I picture myself the same as him, relentless and will stop anything coming my way. Ray Lewis’s work ethic was amazing and I pride myself to be just like him.”

Considering the recognition Adams is already receiving he’s well on his way.  Adams is currently ranked as the top middle linebacker in Pennsylvania and listed as the #2 linebacker in the nation for the Class of 2017.

Adams currently holds 12 offers including ones from Pitt, Nebraska, North Carolina, Penn State, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.  Well what about any upcoming trips? “I currently have a visit scheduled for Penn State on July 18th but I’m also trying to set some things up for the end of the month to some schools that I have not gone to yet.”

Considering it’s proximity, Pitt is a place that Adams has seen plenty of times. As you can imagine, the new coaching staff has made an impression on him,  “I really like the new staff and the relationship that I’m building with the coaches. I’ve really like the defensive mentality that Coach Narduzzi brings to the table!

Aside from Coach Narduzzi, Adams told DreamBackfield.com there’s another Pitt assistant that he really likes, “I’m closest with Coach Harley and I talk with him every few weeks and I really like my talks with him. We’ve developed a great relationship and I’m definitely looking to build off of it”, said Adams.

Despite rumors that Adams was a Penn a State lean, I got the sense that he’s completely wide open and doesn’t have a favorite.  Considering he’s just a junior his offer sheet, which stands at 12,, will grow considerably over the next year.

Adams will not commit until his completely ready and doesn’t want to be a kid that commits and then de-commits, “My commitment date is going to be determined on when I know that I want to go to certain place 100%.” Adams went on to say, “I don’t want to look back and say I wish I would’ve went to this place or that place.”

Time will tell where Adams ends up but I’m certain that whatever team gets him will be getting one really good football player.
