Christian Brooks: “Visit For 9 or 10”

Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt football team have already gotten a 2016 verbal commitment from a talented player from Virginia and are hoping to get another one.

Centreville (Va.) defensive end Christian Brooks made a trip to Pittsburgh with his family and had plenty of positive things to say about it.

2016_Pitt_Football_Recruiting“My visit was pretty awesome. I was there for like 7-8 hours, got a tour of the college, the football facility and got to meet with all the coaches”, said Brooks. “I met the defensive line coach, Coach Narduzzi and a lot of people on staff as well who help out.”

So how what rating (scale of 1-10) would Brooks give the trip?

“I don’t know to be honest but it’s definitely high. I guess like a 9 or 10. This trip has put Pittsburgh very high on the list”, said Brooks. “That was my first visit to Pittsburgh. The city was amazing!! Really pretty and one that I loved. The football facility was amazing as well with all the new things they got.  Plus they’re next to the Pittsburgh Steelers. My family (father, 2 brothers, 2 cousins) came with me and they loved it. They loved the Cathedral of Learning, the city, the faculty and the fact that they’re next to the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

Brooks (6-5, 210) tells me that he’s done with making anymore trips now until he makes his official visits.  And yes, Pitt will get one of his official visits.

As of now, Brooks holds offers from Pitt, Miami Fla, Virginia, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, California and UConn.

According to Brooks, “I want to get it down to my Top 5 before the season starts. Then at the end of my football season have a Top 3, then before Christmas break decide.”

Brooks wouldn’t say that he had a top school but this visit to Pitt has changed a lot.

Pitt assistant coach Andre Powell has been Pitt’s main recruiter of Brooks. Also found out that his position in college is still up in the air.

“They said I will be a defensive end and I’ll be rushing up the field but if I get bigger and more suited for defensive tackle, then they’ll put me at d-tackle”, said Brooks.

Regardless of how his college football career goes, Christian Brooks is a very intelligent young man that has his priorities in the right place.

For 5 weeks this summer, he volunteered at Camp Hope for Kids. There he helped serve kids, volunteer and interacted with kids from the inner-city of Philadelphia.

Brooks is a spiritual person as well and his faith is something that could give Pitt an advantage.

When I asked him certain things he’s looking for in his eventual school he said, “Church….It (Pittsburgh) has my church campus ministry which is called the Greater Pittsburgh Church of Christ.” He went on to say, “I have a friend who is like an older brother to me who actually leads my church campus there, his name is James Rosenquist.”

IMO, Pitt is in solid position for the talented defensive end. The only snag that I see is the fact that they have offered a lot of other defensive ends. It could come down to who accepts the scholarship first.
