Theo Anderson Visits Pitt

It’s one thing to get a visit from a potential recruit from Western Pennsylvania, but it’s quite different when a players pays your school a visit from Florida.

That’s the case with Pitt and Florida fullback Theo Anderson.

Anderson is a 3-star prospect and ranked the No. 2 fullback in the class by Rivals.  DreamBackfield .com talked with Anderson last night as he arrived in Pittsburgh.  He tells me he’ll be in town until Wednesday night.

Aside from Woodland Hills fullback Jo-El Shaw, Anderson is the only fullback that Pitt has made a scholarship offer to. The 5-11, 221 pound back also holds offers from Wisconsin, West Virginia, Cincinnati and Central Florida.

First thing I asked Anderson was his initial thoughts of the city of Piittsburgh and the Pitt program. “I love the environment….Great people….Great coaching staff!! This place is awesome. I really loved Fat Heads.”

This wasn’t the first time Anderson has been to Pittsburgh. He made a trip last year too after receiving an offer from former head coach Paul Chryst and his staff.

Although he told me “I don’t really have schools I’m high on, I enjoy every school”, I believe Pitt’s biggest competition for Anderson is Chryst and Wisconsin.  He visited Madison last month and reportedly was “blown away” by it.

Anderson tells me that aside from Pitt running back coach Andre Powell, he’s developing a good relationship with linebacker coach Rob Harley.

So is there any chance of Anderson making a decision while in Pittsburgh? He tells me, “probably not….want some time so I can think.”  Anderson did tell me that he will be making his college decision on August 14th.

With Anderson being a running back/fullback from Florida, got me to think of the last guy to do that for Pitt: Conridge Collins.

DreamBackfield.com will contact Anderson after his visit to Pitt to see if anything has changed.
