Shake, Rattle and Pitt Rolls Over Duquesne 84-67 In The “City Game”

Duquesne fought hard in the first half and hoped they could win. Pitt looked sluggish but knew they would. Paced by 20 points from Cameron Wright, Pitt cruised to a 84-67 win over cross-town rivals Duquesne at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
The Dukes played with a lot of heart and intensity on both sides of the floor. Ovie Soko pumped in 17 points on 11 for 20 shooting while guard Jeremiah Jones added 13 points and Derrick Colter scored 12 points in a losing effort for Duquesne.
There were several lead changes in the first half but Pitt muscled its way to a 39-35 halftime lead.
Then forward Lamar Patterson once again elevated his game in the second half to finish with 18 points while center Talib Zanna scored 13 points to help Pitt raise its record to 6-0 on the young season. ACC Conference play has yet to begin.
Next up: Pitt’s long-time gridiron rival Penn State at the Peterson Events Center on Tuesday, 12/3 at 7:30pm EST. Penn State leads the all-time hardwood series 75-70. The Lions last win in the series was in 2000 as Pitt has won the last 5 meetings against their in-state rivals.
