On Fire, Pitt Downs Texas Tech 76-53
The paint isn’t even dry on the start of the Pitt Basketball season but the takeaway from tonight’s 76-53 win over Texas Tech in the Progressive Legends Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, was Pitt is already in mid-season form.
Pitt shot a blistering 47% (25 for 53) from the field including 42% (10 for 24) from beyond the arc and 76% (15 for 21) from the charity stripe. In the end, it all amounted to a dominating first round win in the brief two-day tournament.
Redshirt Senior Forward Lamar Patterson led the way for Pitt with 23 points with 4 trays and a perfect 3 for 3 from the line. Redshirt Junior Guard Cameron Wright pumped in 12 points including 4 for 4 perfection from the line.
Pitt used stifling defense and forced 12 Texas Tech turnovers.
The Red Raiders were paced by Senior Forward Jaye Crockett, who posted 19 points with 2 block shots and 6 boards.
Next up for Pitt will be the winner of tonight’s Houston / Stanford game in the Championship Game of the Progressive Legends Classic, which will be played tomorrow night (Tue 11/26) at 9:30pm EST on ESPNU.
