New Jersey Safety Wants an Offer

The defensive backfield will look to be an important area in recruiting for Pitt in the 2015 class. A recruit that Pitt has their eyes on is Isaiah Ross (6’1” ½ 184 lbs.) of Piscataway, New Jersey. He is being recruited by Pitt and a number of other schools as a safety. He finished his junior season totaling 47 tackles, 3 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception.
Recently, DreamBackfield.com caught up with Isaiah to talk about his recruitment and what he looks for in a school.
“Some schools that are recruiting me are Missouri, Pitt, Georgia, Temple, Arkansas and Old Dominion. Mizzou and Temple are recruiting me the hardest.” From watching his film, Isaiah has great closing speed and is not afraid to come up and make tackles at the line of scrimmage. On tape, his physical skills are quick to point out. However, Isaiah feels that it’s the mental part that makes his game so effective. “Knowledge is my biggest strength as a safety. I like to watch film daily. I learned how to read quarterbacks, receivers and linemen to figure out what type of play is going on.” He did also throw in that his height is important. “Being almost 6’2”, I can jump with receivers that are 6’3” and taller.”
This summer, Isaiah will be attending summer camps at Pitt, Duke, Maryland Missouri, Syracuse, Rutgers and Virginia Tech. Although he hasn’t visited Pitt yet, he does plan to visit while he’s in Pittsburgh for the camp.
Education is important to Isaiah and he already knows what he wants to do. “I’m looking for a good sports training program. I want to be a strength and conditioning coach, so I want to go to the right school that has a strong program academically.” He also stated how important a coaching staff is. “I look for a father figure in coaches, I like for them to check on their players and make sure they’re okay.”
Isaiah spoke highly of Pitt saying: “It’s not too far from home, they have a great fan base, great academics and it’s somewhere I could see myself for 3-4 years.”
While Pitt hasn’t offered yet, things could get interesting if they do. When speaking about a potential Pitt offer, Isaiah said “I want them too. We’ll see, it definitely could be a done deal if they do.”

Very good first report on the DBF site….good luck as you go forward. Even though I am a Jersey boy, I hope the Ross kid gets a Pitt offer as many exceptional players have come out of NJ over the years, going to Pitt and other schools. HTP………The Bear
