Athlete P.J. Fulmore a name to watch
A myriad of under-the-radar prospects will be camping at Pitt this summer. One of the names to keep a close eye on is Pittsburgh (PA) North Catholic athlete P.J. Fulmore (5-foot-8 inches, 185 pounds).
Fulmore plays running back, wide receiver and defensive back. He projects as a running back on the next level. “I’m open at this point. I simply want to get on the field and play. It doesn’t matter to me where colleges play me,” he said. “I can play running back or wide receiver.”
As a sophomore in 2012, Fulmore rushed for 1,824 yards. Although slowed by injury as a junior, he rushed for 1,200 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. P.J. led North Catholic High School to a 16-0 state championship season. The championship was the first in school history.
“I have a scholarship offer from Duquesne right now. I’m definitely going to camp at Pitt and Temple is showing a lot of interest,” he said. “I want to play at the highest level and that would be a BCS school. Education is important to me as well. I can’t ignore offers from Duquesne or Ivy League programs.” Western Michigan and Toledo have been in close contact as well.
Fulmore was asked to touch upon his strengths as a running back, he stated, “People tell me I have great vision. I have strong cutting ability and excellent acceleration.”
“(Pitt offensive coordinator) Joe Rudolph has been my main contact. I like Pitt a lot and I have visited there a few times. I know a lot of their players like Reggie Mitchell, Titus Howard, Jamar Parrish and Manasseh Garner. I work out with a lot of them.”
Fulmore has fully recovered from the high ankle sprain that hampered him as a junior. He’s an outstanding student that has already qualified academically.
