Pitt Offers Florida DT, Official Visit Scheduled

image
Late in the 2016 recruiting Pitt TE coach Tim Salem visited with McKinley Williams(Dillard HS Ft Lauderdale, Florida). While visiting with Williams, Salem made the offer. McKinley will make an official visit to Syracuse on January 22nd, followed by a official visit to Pitt on January 29th.

Williams is a interesting prospect. Standing 6’5″ and weighing 255 he’s a physically imposing player. Watching his Hudl highlights its apparent the talent Pitt coaches see. Williams is a big frame, lean athlete. His wrestling background shows when utilizing leverage off the line of scrimmage. He displays low pad level, powerful leg drive and strong hand punch subduing a block from a slow reacting offensive lineman. Once upfield there is lateral mobility present in pursuit of a ball carrier or QB.

Combining Pitt’s strength and conditioning program with defensive line coach Tom Sims eighteen years of coaching experience. I feel McKinley Williams could develop in to a formidable three-technique defensive tackle. We’ll see what develops from this weekends official visitors at the defensive tackle position as far as depth chart needs. Four-star DTs Keyshon Camp(Currently committed to USC) and Amir Watts(Uncommitted) are currently scheduled to make official visits.
