Coleman Priority Recruit For Pitt

Cornerbacks are a vital position in Pat Narduzzi’s defense and the WPIAL have two that Pitt really wants.
Over the next two seasons, the WPIAL will be producing top notch secondary talent like Lamont Wade, Paris Ford in 2017 and Damar Hamlin and Therran Coleman for 2016. The Pitt coaching staff is in hot pursuit of all four prospects.
Coleman (Brashear H.S.) has been on Pitt’s radar for a long time, back in February they were the first Power 5 conference school to offer him a scholarship. Since then, he’s a hot commodity picking up offers from West Virginia, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, Cincinnati and Indiana.
Does the recent de-commitment of Tony Butler impact him? Does he have any upcoming visits? Is he close to making a verbal? Coleman answered all this in an interview with Dreambackfield.com.
Coleman listed ( in no order) Pitt, West Virginia and Wisconsin as his Top 3 schools. As far as upcoming visits, “I’ll be visiting Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Michigan and Notre Dame after the Dead period passes (July 12).”
How about any offers that he’d like to receive in the next month or so? Coleman named 2 schools: 1) Notre Dame and 2) UCLA.
An upcoming commitment doesn’t appear likely as Coleman told me, “No, I’m not going to commit until I’m ready.” But, Coleman did admit to me that he’s keeping any eye on the number of cornerbacks that Pitt is recruiting and it could factor into his decision.
in the end, I think it will come down to Pitt and West Virginia. Three things that could work in Pitt’s favor: 1) chance at early playing time 2) Pitt offered first 3) Coleman has 2 cousins playing for Pitt (Jevonte and Lafayette Pitts).
